Hurby Apartments sit in Jáchymov on Třída Dukelských hrdinů — a few minutes from the spa colonnade and twenty-five from Karlovy Vary. Two separate apartments, each with its own kitchen and bathroom, an infrared sauna with apartment A, and parking on our fenced land. You collect the keys from a keypad, so you arrive when it suits you and never have to meet anyone.

Both are self-contained, generously sized and set up for two. The sofa bed adds room for a third, so a family with a child fits comfortably. The sauna belongs to apartment A.

Apartment A

A generous apartment with a double bed, a sofa bed and its own door onto the terrace. Behind the sliding door is your own bathroom with a large shower, and right beyond it the private infrared sauna. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a bar table for four. Back from Klínovec you need go no further — the heat is a few steps from the bed.

Apartment B

One open space where the bed, the sofa and the television share a room — and the kitchen looks in through a serving hatch. The bathroom is yours, with a large shower and a washing machine. The glazed door opens straight onto the terrace. Light comes in from two sides, so it still feels easy after a week in the mountains.

An infrared cabin warms you differently from a Finnish sauna: instead of heating the air, the warmth radiates straight into the body. That is why 45 to 60 degrees is enough — you breathe more easily and can sit longer. It is warm in a quarter of an hour, and the cabin is entirely yours.

What makes an infrared sauna different

The warmth reaches you directly

The panels warm you, not the air around you. That is why a lower temperature is enough.

A gentler 45 to 60 °C

Rather than ninety. Easier to take, including for anyone who finds hot Finnish sauna air unpleasant.

It does not dry the air out

You breathe more easily, so you can stay in longer at a stretch.

Jáchymov as your starting point

Jáchymov sits on the slope of the Ore Mountains between spa tradition and the ridge trail. In winter you head to Klínovec and Boží Dar; in summer to the bike trails, the ridge route or Karlovy Vary. The German border is right there — Oberwiesenthal is half an hour away.

You park behind the gate

Parking is on our own fenced land with a gate, a few steps from the door. No hunting for a space on the street, no parking fee, and your car is not left at the edge of town — skis in the boot and all.

By car

From Karlovy Vary take road 25 via Ostrov, about 25 minutes. You park on our fenced land right by the building.

From Prague

D6 motorway to Karlovy Vary, then on to Jáchymov — roughly 2 hours.

From Germany

Via the Oberwiesenthal / Boží Dar border crossing, about 30 minutes.

What there is to do in Jáchymov and around

Jáchymov is more than the road up to Klínovec. This is where the first thalers were struck, where uranium was mined, and where one of the most affecting trails in the country runs. Most of the tips below are within twenty minutes of our apartments.

A show mine with a mining museum above Jáchymov. Some 250 metres of tunnel driven in the 1950s during the hunt for uranium. Open May to October, tours start on the hour.

One of the oldest mines in Jáchymov — radon water is still pumped from it for the local spa. Viewable from outside; the prison camp of the same name stood right beside it in the 1950s.

Eight and a half kilometres through the places where camps of political prisoners mining uranium stood in the 1950s. Not an easy walk, but not one you forget either.

The Hurby Burger bistro belongs to the same family as our apartments. In the morning it makes you an American breakfast — eat it at the bistro, or we bring it to your apartment. And after a day in the mountains, nothing beats an honest burger in the evening.

Which apartment has the sauna?

The sauna belongs to apartment A and is yours alone while you stay there. If you are in apartment B and would like to use it, message us ahead and we will sort something out.

Where do I park?

On our own fenced land right by the building. The car sits behind the gate — no hunting for a space, no extra charges.

How far is Klínovec?

The bottom station of the Klínovec chairlift is about 3 km away, roughly 5 minutes by car. Driving all the way up Klínovec takes 15 minutes (11 km), and Boží Dar is 7 km, about 10 minutes.

Can we rent both apartments at once?

Absolutely — together that is up to six beds. Send us your dates and party size and we’ll confirm both.

What is in the kitchen, and what should I bring?

The kitchen is fully equipped — hob, dishwasher (in apartment A), microwave, fridge, capsule coffee machine and kettle, plus crockery, pots and knives. There is no oven, and no hairdryer either, so bring your own if you use one. Bed linen and towels are included.

Do you have Wi-Fi and a television?

Yes — Wi-Fi is free throughout the building, and the television comes with Netflix, also free. Just the thing after a day in the mountains.

Is there somewhere to store skis and bikes?

Yes, there is a lockable storage space for skis, snowboards and bikes, plus somewhere to dry wet clothing.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes, dogs and other pets are welcome. We charge CZK 250 per night for each animal — just tick it in the enquiry form.

Do you serve breakfast?

Yes, from our bistro Hurby Burger. An American breakfast is CZK 250 (€10) per person, and on request we make a sweet one with waffles. Have it at the bistro, or we deliver it to your apartment — delivery within Jáchymov is CZK 100. Order it in advance, together with your booking.

How do I get in?

Entry is contactless — the keys are in a keypad safe and you get the code before you arrive. Come whenever suits you, with no need to meet anyone. If you would still like to be shown around, I am happy to come by.

How do I pay?

Once we confirm your dates, we email you an invoice payable by bank transfer (IBAN) — Czech banking apps can simply scan the QR code. As soon as the payment arrives, you receive your booking confirmation.
